Revision from band to gastric sleeve. In 2004 I was at the lowest point in my life, I had gained over 85 pounds,and I had lost my father to Alzheimer's after caring for him for 4 years. I was depressed and unhappy with myself and felt that I was at the point of no return on my weight. I began looking up information on the lap band and decided that it was my only option to help me get my life and weight back in control.

Ive never felt so beautiful and healthy in my life. I went from a high weight of 234 to a current 130 in just slightly over a year! Ive done things I never thought I would do, Ive gone swimming, taken a plane ride, parasailed, gone hiking, gone zip lining, ridden in roller coasters, jogged, and scuba dived, and for once in my life I wasnt self conscience about ANYTHING! Before surgery I didnt even want to leave my house in fear of who might see me and make fun of me. Now I have a "look at me" attitude! My life no longer revolves around food! Clothes shopping is my favorite hobby now when before my daily outfit were sweat pants now I wear everything I always wished to wear when I was heavy. Im the happiest Ive ever been in my life and I owe it all to the sleeve. If I had to do it all over again I would do it in a heartbeat and the only Dr I would trust is Dr Zapata!!  I just wanted to update you about Bobby's progress. Bobby had a gastric sleeve surgery on July 21st, 2010. He lost 48 pounds within the first month and has now lost over 70 pounds as of today September 18th, 2010 (just under 2 months).  Yesterday I hit my goal of 185 lbs making the total weight loss 102 lbs. I've never been happier and never felt better.   I had my Sleeve done on March 11 (almost 2 months) and couldn't be happier. I'm down 33 pounds and aside from recovering from a sprained ankle, I'm active and getting fit! I just wanted to say that I had the sleeve done on Dec. 19th of 2008 and it was the best thing I did! I followed the Doctors advice and lost 145 pounds! I went from a size 24 to a size 6! I haven't been this size in 20yrs. I still eat right and exercise daily! I would not mind if people who are considering having the sleeve done contact me. Dr. Garcia - Sweet and soft spoken. Very knowledgable and caring! My sis asked for a less "tight" sleeve because she didn't have as much weight to loose and he took off less of her stomach during surgery. In the states you have a one fold surgery...there is no customizing. So if you feel you don't need to loose as much speak with him about getting less cut off.

First let me say that Dr Garcia did exactly as I asked and that was not to be restricted too tightly as I want to lose no more than 50 lbs and so far I have had ZERO problems with my sleeve. He was a joy and very pleasant. And the anesthesiologist was amazing!!! I felt ZERO pain and remembered absloutely nothing lol! YEEESSS!!! Dr. Garcia and his staff deserves recognition because...
