You may take needed medications (such as heart or blood pressure medications) the day before surgery
Do not take any aspirin, Advil, Nuprin, Aleve or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication for 7 days prior to surgery. These medications cause unnecessary bleeding after surgery. You may restart these medications the next day after surgery. (Certain medical conditions need anticoagulants which must be stop or changed before surgery you need to ask your Dr in the states how to do it)
Do not take any herbal medications for 7 days prior to surgery.
Bring comfortable shoes and slippers to Mexico, you will be asked to walk several times per day.
Please bring your medications in properly labeled pharmaceutical bottles for documentation of dosages.
Lapband Surgery Diet
Food, Drink and Exercise After Your Surgery
Inflammation is present after any surgery, which will heal and disappear in one or two months. In the meantime, you will recover quickly and be able to eat and drink comfortably even though you now have a new and smaller stomach.
The band is restricting the quantity of food passing through it. Stop eating immediately as soon as you feel the sensation of being full. Overeating may cause vomiting, which can loosen the stitches connecting the band to the stomach. In some cases, surgery may be required to correct the damage.
Eat slowly. Plan to spend 30 to 45 minutes for each meal, even though you are eating small amounts of food.
Drink at least 8 cups of water every day (64 ounces, or 100 ml), but never with meals. Avoid carbonated drinks as they may enlarge your new stomach, diminishing the success of your surgery.
